Understanding the Camp Pick-Order System

Since there is no significant difference between being 1st or 3rd in the order, or between being 6th or 7th, rotation by one position every year would hold people in functionally similar pick positions for several years in a row.

So in the system we use, campers move up in the rotation 3 steps from year to year. That is, the person in 4th position moves to 1st position the next year.  This way, each camper is in one of the top 3 positions every two or three years, and less frequently in one of the last 2.

Contact Martha no earlier than the days indicated in the pick order table.

Late Reservation: If you can’t make a choice within your own reservation days, you may contact Martha any time afterward, but you will have fewer free weeks available to choose from. 

Trading Weeks: If you want to try to trade with someone who has already reserved his or her weeks, negotiate directly with that person, and then contact Martha.
