The phoebe moved her nest from the Laundry porch to a spot just above the hummingbird feeder outside the kitchen porch, possibly even more disturbed by our presence there

News

The loons are still nesting on the island--no babies in sight.

...with beebalm blooming soon in the old

fireplace site,... and mountain laurel already opening down by the dock.

A few pleasant surprises, including a crayfish, which used to be plentiful.

At opening, we set up the screen tent to the side, to highlight the explosion of  flowers....

The front meadow was bursting with daisies, yarrow, sorrel, clover, buttercup, lupines, iris, hairy vetch, hawkweed, and columbine.

The eagle still frequents the island--resting on his favorite

treetop.

And then this somewhat unpleasant surprise, a large snapping turtle, right off the Laundry, on the mergansers' rocks.

But she got used to us enough to check on the nest.
